SalimaAbibsiMy name is SalimaAbibsi. I studied medicine and after further study decided to specialise in haematology. My great love of the English language began at the age of eleven when my elder brother began studying the language in middle school. He was willing to share his studies with me and I became a zealous student. As I progressed to the highest grade, I was encouraged greatly by an inspiring supportive teacher. Because of her diligence and enthusiasm, I achieved top grades in the subject which further stimulated my love of English. Moreover, I persevered with my study of the language after school, which was of great benefit during my medical studies. I was able to refer to resources only published in English such as The New England Journal of Medicine, the British Journal of Haematology as well as other publications. In addition, this scientific and linguistic background enabled me to attend international seminars abroad; for instance the first congress of the European School of Haematology, which I attended in Paris. My understanding of English made the conferences both fulfilling and enhanced my knowledge in both a personal and professional way as I was able to understand all the lectures and contributions with complete ease. Besides these advantages, I have been able to travel to Venice in Italy and Bruges in Belgium where I communicated with people in English. This was very stimulating and enjoyable. I have also taken advantage of my usage and comprehension of English by learning a new language with a native speaker using English as the common language. In this way, I am learning Portuguese which would have been impossible without English. Furthermore, having spent years working as a doctor, I gave up work to satisfy my insatiable appetite to master this worldwide language. I embarked on a four- year B.A. Course to study English. I have now graduated with a B.A. In English and would now like to fulfil my long held dream of travelling to the UK in order to immerse myself in the English language and culture. In brief, studying English so far has brought much to my professional and personal life. I have been able to rely on published medical resources other than in French, take on line classes to learn other foreign languages with native speakers as well as travelling abroad and communicating easily with European citizens | |

| KHELIFI AbdenourMy name is kHELIFIAbdenour. I am an English student and sport sciences and techniques student as well. My first contact with English was when I was 8 years old; I had a lot of fun watching cartoons on nickelodeon and also watching documentaries on national Geographic channel. At the age of 12,I bought my first computer, yet everything installed was in English, this got me all curious to know the meaning of words ,so I started using printed dictionaries and this was the firing flame of love between me and English. Learning about the computer made capable of solving computer errors, and it allowed me to master software specially adobe Photoshop which fascinated me and led me to become a graphic designer later on. After setting up the internet connection, I was really glad, since I was able to surf faster. In addition, I got access to a large vocabulary on the internet and I was able to translate anything I wanted in a matter of seconds .In fact, internet opened me the doors to learn English in a short amount of time; communicate with foreigners from all over the world, and improve my graphic design skills through the available online tutorials. Hence, English started to pour in my veins that I decided to study it at university. The fact that being among the best students make me thirsty to know more about English culture and I was a regular follower of most English competitions on websites. In 2012, I participated in a student’s exchanges program named « NESA Ugrad Students » powered by the US Embassy, yet I was selected as a finalist. This great experience was a huge benefit to me, besides we were told to take the TOEFL test during the selection steps of the program that I end it up with a good score. Now, I’m preparing to take the IELTS test, and make my life richer with great experiences concerning the English language. Because of my love to English language I have launched a blog in which I share my writings available on http://www.abdenourkhelifi.com | |
